Residencies, Workshops, & Fellowships

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity – 2024 Visual Arts Residencies
Explore new directions in your work with national and international faculty while being inspired by our studio spaces and facilities in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The application fee is $65 ($35 for applicants who identify as Indigenous).

Center for Craft – 2024 Craft Archive Fellowship
The Center for Craft will award up to six $5,000 fellowships to support research on underrepresented craft histories, culminating in a special edition article on Hyperallergic in Winter 2025. Read more on Hyperallergic.

John Michael Kohler Arts Center – 2025 Arts/Industry Residency
Arts/Industry artists-in-residence spend three months creating new work in the pottery or foundry in Kohler Co.’s factory in Kohler, Wisconsin. Artists receive materials, technical assistance, housing, and a stipend. Read more on Hyperallergic.

Tusen Takk Foundation – 2025 Visual Artist Residency
Mid-career and established visual artists are invited to apply for Tusen Takk’s 2025 solo residencies. Artists are provided with housing, studio access, $625/week, and a vehicle. The application fee is $20.

University of California, Davis – The California Studio: Manetti Shrem Artist Residencies
Art Studio at UC Davis seeks applicants for two visiting professorships in the Manetti Shrem California Studio, a visiting artist program focused on teaching and studio practice. Read more on Hyperallergic.

Museum of Arts and Design – Artist Studios Program
One full-time MAD Artist Fellow will be awarded a $15,000 stipend, dedicated studio space in the NYC museum, and more. Two part-time residents receive a $5,200 stipend, a shared studio space in the museum, and more.

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston – Curatorial Fellow, Art of the Islamic Worlds
The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of Islamic art with demonstrated interest in Persian visual culture. This year-long salaried appointment includes benefits and the option to renew for one additional year.

Sertão Negro Artist Residency
Open to Brazilian and international artists, the program’s main goal is to create a dialogue between the visual arts, the Cerrado biome, and traditional knowledge, stimulating connections between quilombola communities and artists. Residents receive a cash subsidy and airfare.

Social Science Research Council – Just Tech Fellowship
For two years, artists, activists, technologists, and thinkers receive annual $100,000 awards plus additional funding to imagine and create more just, equitable, and representative technological futures.

Open Calls for Art & Writing

FOR-SITE – The Guardhouse Program
FOR-SITE is seeking artist submissions to activate a former military guardhouse at San Francisco’s Fort Mason. Selected artists will receive a production budget of $2,500 and a $2,500 artist fee.

Mizna – Summer 2024 Issue
The literary and art journal seeks submissions from Palestinian, Armenian, Afghan, Sudanese, Moroccan, and Libyan folks, as well as anti-Zionist comrades. Selected contributors receive a $200 honorarium, a one-year subscription to Mizna, and five copies of the issue.

Printed Matter – Call for Submissions: Decolonization, Resistance & Solidarity
Printed Matter is soliciting artists’ books, zines, and print ephemera that engage with ideas of decolonization, resistance, and interconnected solidarity. Accepted submissions will be distributed online and in their Manhattan store.

Grants & Awards

Not Real Art – 2024 Not Real Art Grant
US-based visual artists working in any 2D/3D medium can submit their work for free to this competition. Six applicants will receive a no-strings-attached cash award of $2,000, plus PR and marketing support.

Flushing Town Hall – Arts Grants for Queens
Individual artists and art organizations based in Queens are eligible for grants of $1,000–$5,000, which are intended to support the production of public arts and cultural projects.

Boston College – Assistant Professor of Studio Art
The Art, Art History, and Film Department invites applications for a full-time position as a tenure-track assistant professor of Studio Art with a specialization in Graphic Design or closely related fields, to begin July 2024.

Seton Hill University – Assistant/Associate Professor of Art in Painting
This full-time, tenure-track position begins in August 2024. The selected candidate will teach three undergraduate studio courses per semester in painting and drawing, from foundational studies to advanced studios.
